Highlights of the Event:

On 14th October 2024, Amity Indian Military College for Women conducted a session on “Practical Application of Yoga to Improve the Quality of life of Women”.

The importance of yoga for women’s overall well-being was highlighted by Mr. Sandeep Yog Acharya (Meditation Ambassador of Amity University, Noida, associated with Amity Institute of Indian system of Medicine). The session covered several key areas, focusing on how yoga can address specific physical, mental and emotional needs.

The impact of modern life on women’s mental health was discussed. Certain key Breathing techniques (Pranayama) and mindfulness to reduce anxiety, stress, and depression were practiced. Major stress was laid on the practice of Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) which balances the nervous system and Bhramari Pranayama (Bee Breathing) that calms the mind.

The importance of stretching exercises was also demonstrated to promote and restore emotional healing. Incorporating stretching exercises in yoga not only improves physical flexibility but also supports mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being. It’s a vital component of yoga practice, helping the body stay supple, reducing the risk of injuries, and promoting relaxation. Regular practice ensures long-term benefits for both the mind and body.

Towards the end, relaxation and meditation techniques like Yoga Nidra were practiced promoting deep relaxation and mental clarity. This demonstration of short, guided yoga practice focusing on simple asanas, pranayama, and relaxation techniques helped both students as well as the faculty gain practical sights on how to make yoga a sustainable part of a busy lifestyle.
