Air Force Station, Hindon

On October 20, 2022, the AIMCW organized an educational field trip to Air Force Station, Hindon
(Hindon AFS) where 3 Faculty and 22 students participated. The Hindon AFS is an Indian Air Force Base
under the Western Air Command (WAC) and is the biggest and largest airbase in Asia. The purpose of
this field trip was to provide students with experience outside there everyday activities and to take a
look at the Air Force history and practice for the benefit of the students who could later be interested in
flying for the country.

The students were taken to three Air Force units, operating three different types of aircraft and the
helicopters and airplanes on display were Helicopter MI-17, Hercules C-130 and Globemaster C-17. This
experience was meant to help students understand how the Indian Air Force functions. It helped them
understand what it is to be an Air Force pilot or what it is to stand up for one's country.
The students. learnt about the roles, capability and operations of the aircraft and they also interacted
with women officers to get a first-hand experience of what it is like to be a woman pilot in the Air Force.
The tour lasted for 07 hours. Flight instructors and ground staff were present at the event to instruct the
students.
