Yoga has been practiced in India for centuries. The popularity of Yoga is increasing day by day with the simultaneous realization of the crucial role it plays in maintaining physical as well as mental health. To counter the hustle bustle of life and the rise in stress amongst people, various studies have also shown how yoga can be a panacea in present times.

In light of this, AIMCW conducted a guest lecture on the topic, ‘Practical Application of Yoga To Improve The Quality Of Life Of Women”. A few minutes of Yoga during the day can be a great way to get rid of stress that accumulates daily-in both the body and mind. Yoga postures, Pranayama and meditation are effective techniques to release stress. Keeping in mind the manifold benefits of Yoga, the session was conducted by Mr Sandeep Kumar, faculty of Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine (AlISM).

Yoga is a means for the achievement of the link between body and soul. It allows understanding of the mind and its modifications. For women, yoga plays a pivotal role in increasing motivation and promoting physical and mental well-being and to relieve the stress of life. Yoga also enhances overall well-being and quality of life. Keeping this in mind, the objectives of extension activity were successfully met. The event motivated and inspired students and created deep interest in Yoga. It also inspired them to establish holistic health and realize the crucial role Yoga plays in social harmony.

Development of understanding of different yogic techniques was the primary outcome of the extension activity. It was also a chance to become aware of the significance of self-realization. It shed light on various types of yoga such as Bhakti Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama, Kundalini Yoga, Vinyasa and so on. The session was very informative, and the students enjoyed the session immensely along with the added benefits of learning easy asanas to practice daily.
